So, you think you’ve found your dream job within the Salesforce ecosystem. Fantastic!

But as we all know, Salesforce has a huge portfolio of complex products. There’s much to be learned right from the start. Luckily, the certification program has all the right ingredients for your recipe for Salesforce success!

Let’s get right into it.

What does it mean to be “Salesforce certified?”

A Salesforce certification essentially means that you have taken the time to study in depth and prove your knowledge on a specific topic within Salesforce. The certifications are currently divided into these six paths:

Along these paths, Salesforce offers over 40 certifications total! It’s important to research which certifications will best fit into your career path, and then start building from the ground up.

Each certification is organized into different topics as they relate to solutions within the Salesforce ecosystem. They can be achieved by passing a comprehensive exam covering all of the important material under the given certification topic.

You can prepare for a certification exam by heading over to Trailhead and following the Study Trail for your specific exam. Within Trailhead, you’ll find plenty of resources – from interactive tools to practice exam questions – all to help you ace your certification.

Benefits of being certified

  1. Prove yourself
Getting certified is a great way to verify your expertise of Salesforce platforms, applications, tools, and more.  It sends a message to employers and competitors alike that you have the right tools in your kit to take on complicated tasks.

  2. Stand out to employers
Employers are looking for candidates who know what they’re talking about. This is especially true within the Salesforce ecosystem, where many skills simply cannot be learned in a college lecture hall.

Going in for an interview with Salesforce certifications on your resume sets you apart from the rest. It lets potential employers know that you’ve got the technical knowledge they’re looking for. Certifications reassure the company or client that you’re already qualified to deal with the situation at hand.

  3. Learn from real-life examples
The programs for certification offer case studies and real-life examples to help you  learn as efficiently as possible. A lot of planning goes into the modules, including hours of completed projects and in-class Lab Practice.

  4. Understand the inner-workings of Salesforce
Completing a certification program gives you an inside look into the Salesforce platform and its many applications. In turn, you’ll be able to provide more swift and efficient solutions to your clients.

Moreover, Salesforce is regularly releasing new features, and being certified is one of the best ways to stay up-to-date with those new features.  To maintain your certification, you’ll have to pass a new exam. It’s a great way to stay motivated for more Salesforce knowledge.

  5. Help you, help your team
Obtaining a Salesforce certification can actually help your company too! With more certified members, the company can put together its most efficient team for creating top notch solutions.

This way, the company can optimize its Salesforce while you seek the benefits of being a certified Salesforce professional.

  6. Potential increase in pay
As is true in any field, improving your skills and gaining more knowledge in the field is a sure fire way to receive a boost in your pay.

In a recent survey by Mason Frank, it was found that participants experienced a 26% rise in pay after becoming Salesforce certified. That’s excellent news for anyone getting started with their certification journey!

  7. Watch your career take off
Being a certified professional within the Salesforce ecosystem puts you in a privileged position. It means that you can qualify for a new position or maybe a promotion from the position you currently hold.

Salesforce will continue to grow and thrive as it has been, so why not grow and thrive alongside it?
